The Brecher Buchleiten (2018)

The Buchleiten crusher is a former coal crusher of the Wolfsegg-Traunthaler Kohlenwerke AG near Buchleiten in the market town of Ampflwang in the Hausruckwald , Upper Austria.

history

The coal crusher, built in 1925, was in operation until the mine was closed in 1995. The lignite mined in several tunnels near Ampflwang was first transported from the tunnels with the help of Hunten on the so-called coal railway through a tunnel to the Buchleiten crusher, where it was crushed to a uniform size. The coal was then taken to central sorting in Ampflwang for further processing . Originally this was done via a material ropeway . In 1964 this was replaced by a conveyor belt .

Todays use

Today there is an event center and an archive on mining in Upper Austria in Brecher Buchleiten. The crusher could be viewed as part of the Upper Austrian State Exhibition 2006 "Coal and Steam". Except for the conveyor belt, which was torn down after the closure, the system is largely in its original condition, at least from the outside, and a large part of the old machines has also been preserved. The facility is a listed building .
