Central sorting plant Ampflwang

The central sorting plant in Ampflwang is a former coal processing plant of Wolfsegg-Traunthaler Kohlenwerk AG in Ampflwang in the Hausruckwald .

history

The central sorting facility was built in 1925. Until 1964, the lignite , which was mined in several tunnels in Hausruck and brought by coal train and through a tunnel to the Buchleiten crusher , where it was brought to a uniform size, was transported to central sorting via a material cable car. From 1964, this was done using a conveyor belt that was demolished in the 1990s.

In 1988 the new coal washing plant went into operation, replacing the old central sorting system. It was only in use for 7 years until the mine closed in 1995. In 1995 almost all machines were removed from the building and either scrapped or sold.

Todays use

Most of the buildings on the site of the central sorting facility have been preserved and belong to the ÖGEG . Only the new coal washing plant was demolished. The central sorting now houses a museum about mining and the railway. In the immediate vicinity there is a roundhouse where old locomotives can be viewed and maintained by the ÖGEG.

Industrial monument

The central sorting plant of Wolfsegg-Traunthaler Kohlenwerk AG is a striking industrial monument, which was a show object at the Upper Austrian State Exhibition in 2006 . In the 1920s it was one of the most modern mining facilities of its time.
