Breedlove (singer)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Breedlove (* in San Francisco Bay Area , California, as Craig Jessup ) is an American singer , songwriter , performance artist, and makeup artist .

He performed as a pre-act on Lady Gaga's ArtRave - The Artpop Ball Tour.

Childhood and youth

Breedlove got to know the touring life as a child, because his parents, who are cabaret artists, took him on trips and he commuted between California and his parents' venues. As a teenager he moved to New York to go to college. There he met Lady Starlight , who is known for her close friendship with Lady Gaga . It was Starlight who gave him his name and helped him determine his musical direction. The New York nightlife also shaped his musical style significantly. He has been making up the green witch Elphaba in the Broadway musical Wicked for 7 years.

2010-2015

In 2010 Breedlove was the pre-act for Semi Precious Weapons on their North American tour. In 2011 he appeared in Lady GaGa 's HBO special and in her promotional video for the MTV VMA's that same year . He became Chief Ambassador of their Born This Way Foundation during the North American portion of their Born This Way Ball Tour . That same year he began working with Brooklyn-based electro-funk producer ChewFu. They mixed their musical styles and thus created a retro-futuristic pop style, as well as creating their own record label "1212Records". The number 12 is based on the fact that both musicians were born on December 12th.

“The Magic Monday EP” emerged from their joint collaboration as an homage to their weekly Monday appearances of the same name in the New York bar “Jerome's”. Breedlove introduced “The Magic Monday EP” in 2014 as a preliminary act for Lady Gaga's Artrave - The Artpop Ball. During the Yahoo live broadcast from Paris on November 24, 2014, he was supported by the dancer Jocelyn S. McBride, who, together with him and ChewFu, portrayed “The Act” on Magic Monday in Jerome's.

In 2015 Breedlove announced the release of his and ChewFus album "Magic Monday".

One of his trademarks is a black baseball cap with "NYC" printed on it.
