Architecture and history
The building is located on Breite Straße , one of the city's main shopping streets. It is a four-storey building mainly from the 19th century, which was largely rebuilt after several city fires, especially that of 1851. The main building on the street side was rebuilt with functional, simple half-timbering. The top floor was also expanded and provided with a window front towards Breite Straße. There are stone firewalls on both sides of the building to the neighboring properties. The right firewall bears a plaque stating that the flames of the city fire could be stopped here. There was once a stone bower on the property as a fire-proof storage area.
The ground floor of the building was completely expanded for the public, it previously had no shop windows. Immediately next to the house is the Café Wien from 1583.
In the years 1895/96 the house was owned by the merchant Georg Schulz.
In the local register of monuments , the house is listed as a monument under registration number 094 25061.
