The Breitenkopfhütte is a refuge of the Coburg section of the German Alpine Club . It is located in the Mieminger chain in Tyrol and is located on the southeastern edge of the Igelskar under a rock overhang at the foot of the western wall of the Breitenkopf.
The accommodation is a self-catering hut and is accessible all year round with the Alpine Club key.
history
The hut's official opening date as a mountaineering base is September 21, 1936. Up until this point in time there was an old miners' accommodation in the ore mine shaft ("Oberbaustollen") located next to the hut and operated by the JH Dudek Söhne company until 1913 -, lead and zinc ores had been mined. After the Coburg Section had leased the property from the responsible agricultural community for 99 years in June 1936, the building was converted in a month of construction.
