The Hochplattig is at 2768 m above sea level. A. the highest peak in the Mieminger chain , a mountain range in the northern Limestone Alps in Tyrol .
topography
The Hochplattig lies in the main ridge of the Mieminger chain, which extends from the Wannig in the west to the Hohen Munde in the east. The immediate neighbor to the west is the Ostliche Mitterspitze ( 2705 m ), to the east, after the Alplscharte ( 2317 m ), the high face ( 2721 m ) follows . In the south of the mountain, below the pre- peaks Gacher Blick ( 1909 m ) and Judenköpfe ( 2021 m ), the Mieminger Plateau and the Inn Valley lie . In the north, the Ehrwalder Alm separates the Ehrwalder Basin from the Gaistal . Here on the north ridge of the Hochplattig, which separates the Igelskar in the northwest from the Schwarzbachkar in the northeast, the Breitenkopf ( 2469 m ) is upstream. In the north, the Hochplattig is characterized by steep rock faces, in the south steep grass slopes and craggy terrain predominate .
The highest point of the Hochplattig is the little pronounced main summit ( 2768 m ), which lies roughly in the middle of the approximately 700 meter long ridge between the 2749 m high west corner and the 2698 m high east summit .
Ascent
Although the Hochplattig is the highest mountain in its area and a good panoramic mountain, it is relatively rarely climbed. There is no path to the summit ridge, there are only some climbing tracks from the end of the marked path to the Gachen Blick in the south. Orientation-wise, the rest of the way has to be covered with difficult orientation through steep gullies ( UIAA I ) in pathless, brittle and rockfall- prone terrain . The east summit is easiest to reach here. Accordingly, it was climbed early on by local hunters. The main summit, however, was first climbed on August 11, 1872 by Hermann von Barth , and the Westeck on August 21, 1883 by Ludwig Purtscheller .
Most of the other climbs, for example from the Alplscharte ( UIAA III ), from the south-west ( UIAA II ), over the north face ( UIAA II ) or from the Alplhaus in the south-east ( UIAA I ), are very brittle and rarely used.
