The distillery Zum Fürstenhof Robert H. Günther is a German spirits manufacturer with headquarters in Steinhagen, Westphalia .

history

The Zum Fürstenhof distillery was founded in Detmold in 1902 by Robert H. Günther . The Detmold Princely House served as the namesake. Seven years later a branch was added in Steinhagen. The company in Detmold was then closed and the headquarters relocated to Steinhagen.

In 1955 Robert H. Günther sold his company to the family company Wilhelm Kisker in Halle , Westphalia , which continued the company under its old name.

Manufacturing

The Steinhaeger is with juniper flavored spirit. It takes its name from the East Westphalian municipality of Steinhagen between Bielefeld and Halle (Westphalia) on the southern slope of the Teutoburg Forest. There a total of 20 house distilleries developed there in the second half of the 19th century, producing juniper water and juniper oil. Today, in addition to the Zum Fürstenhof Robert H. Günther distillery, another distillery produces the Steinhäger.

The elongated bottle made of brown stoneware, called the " jar ", is characteristic. "Steinhäger" has been a protected geographical designation of origin since 1989 through a corresponding EC regulation.
