The painter Richard Brent Malone (* 1941 in Nassau , Bahamas ; † February 5, 2004 there ) was a representative of photorealism and a gallery owner .

Life

Brent Malone started his career in Nassau as a potter . He was a freshman at the Chelsea Pottery , but after studying art at Don Russell's Academy of Fine Arts he wanted to move to England to be an art teacher at Ravens Bourne College . Another course of study was therefore used at the Bechenham School of Art . Malone was invited by Sir Harold Christie - in 1964, 23 years later - to return to Nassau and become chairman of the Chelsea Pottery. After a short time and renaming it Bahamian Pottery , he gave up the business. This experiment helped him in his later career as a gallery worker. He owned the Loft Gallery, Matinee Gallery, Temple Gallery, and Marlborough Antiques for all of his life. These galleries were important exhibition spaces for young artists from the Bahamas, whose work was very important to Malone. With Antonius Roberts, Max Taylor, Stan Burnside, Jackson Burnside and John Beadle, he founded the group B.-CAUSE in 1991 for the embodiment of their art. The Junkanoo Parade is depicted in many of Malone's pictures . In addition to the main photorealism, his pictures also contain surrealism .

In 2004 he died of a heart attack in a Nassau hospital.
