Brian Bagnall (cartoonist)

Brian Bagnall (born April 22, 1921 in Crumpsall , Manchester , † August 11, 2004 ) was a British cartoonist , illustrator and author.

Bagnall studied at Xaverian College in Manchester until 1938 , where his first cartoons were created. From 1944 to 1945 Bagnall was a German prisoner of war. From 1946 to 1952 he studied at the Liverpool University School of Architecture and then worked as an architect. From 1957 to 1980 he worked as sales director for Bison Concrete .

From 1980 Bagnall worked as a freelance cartoonist and illustrator. His drawings appeared in Private Eye from 1982 , as well as in History Today , Boz , The Spectator , Punch , Oldie , Observer and other English magazines.
