Career
Brian Benning began his career as a hockey player with the Portland Winter Hawks , for whom he played in the 1983/84 season in the Western Hockey League . He was then selected in the NHL Entry Draft 1984 in the second round as a total of 26th player from the St. Louis Blues . He began the following season, however, with the Kamloops Blazers from the WHL, before he made his debut for St. Louis in the National Hockey League , for which he was a total of four times by the end of the season.
The 1985/86 season Benning spent in the junior team of Team Canada, for which he was active the entire regular season. He then ran in 6 games for the Blues in the NHL playoffs. After three more years in St. Louis, the defender was given on November 10, 1989 to the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for their third-round suffrage in the 1991 NHL Entry Draft . After almost 2½ years Benning had to leave the Kings again and was transferred to the Philadelphia Flyers for Paul Coffey along with the Kings' first round suffrage in the 1992 NHL Entry Draft . After only one year in Philadelphia Benning was given in January 1993 to the Edmonton Oilers , who did not renew his contract at the end of the 1992/93 season. On July 13, 1993 Benning was finally committed by the Florida Panthers , with whom he ended his career in 1995.
