Brian Anthony Bruney (born February 17, 1982 in Astoria , Oregon ) is a retired American baseball player who was a pitcher in Major League Baseball for nine years .

Career

Brian Bruney began his baseball career at Warrenton High School, where he graduated in 2000. He was then selected in the MLB Draft 2000 by the Arizona Diamondbacks , for which he made his MLB debut on May 8, 2004 in the game against the Philadelphia Phillies , after he played in the minor leagues in the three previous seasons. At the Diamondbacks, the relief pitcher could never really prevail, so that in 2006 he signed a contract as a free agent with the New York Yankees . He had previously played for the Columbus Clippers minor league team for some time . He was transferred from the Yankees to the Washington Nationals in late 2009 . There he was released on May 25, 2010 after having had an ERA of 7.64 in 19 missions. He signed a contract with the Milwaukee Brewers for the minor leagues on June 1, 2010, but was also released there three weeks later. In early July 2010 he signed with the New York Mets . After the end of the season he became a free agent and signed a minor league contract with the Chicago White Sox in December 2010 .
