Life

National Wrestling Alliance and Independent

Lawler made his debut in June 1988, and he achieved his first major success on December 10, 1992, when he was allowed to hold the NWA Texas Heavyweight Championship .

On March 23, 1992 he became USWA Heavyweight Champion for the first time . His strength lies in the individual area, and between May 1994 and October 1996 he was able to hold the USWA Heavyweight Championship a total of ten times.

WWF / WWE

In 1997 he signed a contract with the World Wrestling Federation (now WWE ). At first he had a small feud against Ivan and Scott Putski , where he was supported by his father. Towards the end of the year Lawler supported the newly formed WWE Light Heavyweight Division. The first title was fought in a so-called knockout tournament. Brian Lawler managed to get into the finals, held at In Your House PPV D-Generation X in December 1997. There he was defeated by the Japanese Taka Michinoku .

In 1998, Brian Lawler focused more on the Tag Team Division. Together with his cousin Scott Taylor , he founded the Too Much tag team . After an unsuccessful year, the team paused for a few months before making its comeback at the 1999 Survivor Series . From Too Much is Too Cool and the two got gain of rikishi . In this successful phase Lawler managed to win the WWF Tag Team title . In 2001 he was fired from the WWE for drug possession.

After discharge

In 2002, WWE gave him a second chance. After a few missed shows or appearing too late, he was released after just a month. This was followed by appearances for WWA and Total Nonstop Action Wrestling as well as at smaller, independent promotions.

On July 7, 2018, he was arrested for drunk driving. He died of suicide on July 29, 2018 .
