Brian Fargo
Brian Fargo (born December 15, 1962 in Long Beach , California ) is an American computer game developer.
Life
Brian Fargo was born in Long Beach, California near Los Angeles and grew up in nearby Newport Beach . In 1977 his parents gave him a computer and soon afterwards developed the desire to develop computer games. In 1983 he was one of the founders of the computer game company Interplay Entertainment , where he worked on games such as the Bard's Tale series and Wasteland . In the mid-1990s, Interplay had over 600 employees and went public in 1998 ( NASDAQ ). However, the company soon ran into financial difficulties. In 2001 Interplay was finally taken over by the French Titus Interactive and Brian Fargo left the company shortly afterwards.
In 2003 Fargo founded a new company, inXile Entertainment . In October 2004 inXile published the title The Bard's Tale for PlayStation 2 , Xbox and PC. Since then, the studio has mainly worked on games for iPhone and iPod touch . In early 2012, the crowdfunding internet platform Kickstarter Wasteland 2 was financed in the style of a classic RPG and was released in September 2014. In early 2013, Torment: Tides of Numenera was financed in record time via Kickstarter.
