The Bricklin SV-1 was a sports car . The only model from the Canadian manufacturer Bricklin Vehicle Corporation was produced in 2875 copies within three years. He had novel safety features (SV stands for safety vehicle ). These included the bumpers, which withstood collisions at 19 km / h and the welded steel structure of the passenger cell, which protects the occupants in the event of an accident. The model had gull-wing doors , pop-up headlights and an acrylic layer that was applied to the fiberglass body .

The initially used V8 engine from AMC with overhead valves got 95 kW (129 hp) from 5899 cc. From 1975 there was a Windsor engine from Ford with 5161 cm³ displacement in the SV-1. The chassis with disc brakes at the front and rear as well as the independent front suspension on double wishbones with coil springs and the rigid axle on leaf springs at the rear came from the AMC Hornet . The station wagon with a load-bearing perimeter frame made of welded steel brought it to a top speed of 175 km / h with a three-speed automatic transmission .

The vehicle was 4536 mm long, 1717 mm wide and 1223 mm high with a wheelbase of 2438 mm. The curb weight was given as 1574 kg.
