Bride is a Christian metal / hard rock band. It was founded by brothers Dale and Troy Thompson in the 1980s. Despite the criticism for the band's frequent style changes, it is particularly popular in the USA, Brazil and Central Europe.

The name of the band (dt .: bride ) refers to the bride of Christ ( Rev 21,2  EU 21,9 EU 22,17 EU ), the community of Christians.

history

The band was founded in Louisville, Kentucky under the name Matrix . In 1983 the Thompson brothers started the first demo recordings. A total of four demos were produced and distributed primarily at concerts and through advertisements. In 1986 the band appeared in the opening act for the Canadian Daniel Band . The gig helped them get their first record deal. The name has now been changed to Bride . This was followed by the record Show No Mercy and Live to Die .

After a change in the line-up, Silence is Madness was created in 1989 , followed by End of the Age in 1990 as the first "Best of" album, which at the same time marked the transition from the original metal sound to more catchy Hard Rock, which was in keeping with the style of the time was ajar. The two tracks Everybody Knows My Name and Same Ol 'Sinner were recorded for the Best Of album , which were singles at number 1 on the Christian Metal charts for 14 and 8 weeks respectively.

The Kinetic Faith album produced several hits on American radios. Another best of album, Shotgun Wedding , followed Snakes In The Playground - still the best of all Bride albums in the opinion of many fans - and Scarecrow Messiah .

The next albums Drop and The Jesus Experience had a more alternative style. There was an uproar about the design of the CD case for the latter album, because behind the CD was a picture of Jesus on an electric chair, which was intended as a spiritual stimulus, but was ultimately removed.

Constantly developing, the band brought out the following three records Oddities , Fistful of Bees and This Is It with a rockier sound again, with Dale Thompson also trying his hand at rapping.

With the album Skin for Skin they tied back to the hard rock style of earlier albums.

Awards

Bride has received four Dove Awards from the Gospel Music Association to date : three for Hard Music Song (1992, 1993, and 1994) and one in 1995 for Hard Music Album for Scarecrow Messiah .
