Bridget Breiner

Bridget Breiner (* 1974 in Connecticut , USA ) is an American dancer and choreographer who has lived and worked mainly in Germany since 1991.

Life

Breiner first learned dance at the Ballet Met ballet school in Columbus (Ohio) . At the age of 17, she went to Munich to receive further dance training at the Heinz Bosl Foundation. Her first engagement was in the Bavarian State Ballet before she became a member of the Compagnie des Stuttgarter Ballett in 1996 . There she became first soloist in 2001. From 2006 to 2008 she was a member of the Semperoper Ballet .

Breiner has been artist in residence with the Stuttgart Ballet since 2008 , but has also worked as a freelance choreographer since then. From 2012 to 2019 she was the ballet director at the Musiktheater im Revier in Gelsenkirchen . In 2013 her work Ruß - A Story of Cinderella was awarded the German Theater Prize Der Faust as Best Choreography . In 2015 she received the same appreciation for the piece Charlotte Salomon: Death and the Painter . In 2019, Breiner moved to the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe as ballet director and chief choreographer .

Breiner has worked as a dancer in many countries and has worked with various choreographers such as John Neumeier , David Dawson , Douglas Lee , Mauro Bigonzetti and Christian Spuck .
