Brigitte Deydier

Brigitte Deydier (born November 12, 1958 in Meknes ) is a former French judoka . In the early 1980s she was the first French woman to rise to the top of the world in judo. In the course of her career she won the French championship ten times, was world champion three times and European champion four times.

Deydier fought in the 66 kg category. In 1982, 1984 and 1986 she won the world title three times in a row. At European level, she won the title in 1979, 1984, 1985 and 1986. In 1988 she won the silver medal at the Summer Olympics in Seoul , where judo was a demonstration sport for women on the program.

After finishing her active career, Deydier worked in the French Judo Federation and was elected Technical Director there in May 2005.
