Brigitte Freihold

Brigitte Freihold (born April 9, 1955 in Kaiserslautern ) is a German politician ( Die Linke ), teacher and member of the 19th German Bundestag .

biography

After graduating from high school, Brigitte Freihold studied German and fine arts for the teaching post for elementary and secondary schools and worked as a teacher. She has two grown-up daughters.

Politics and party

Freihold joined the WASG in 2005 and joined the Die Linke party with her. In Pirmasens she has been chairwoman of the party since 2007. From 2013 to 2018 she was deputy chairwoman of the regional association of her party in Rhineland-Palatinate. From 2014 to 2019 she was a member of the Palatinate District Parliament and, since 2014, the Pirmasens City Council. In the 2017 federal election , she received a mandate from the state list. Freihold is a member of the Education and Science Union (GEW) . Her political focus is on cultural policy, education for sustainable development, commemoration and remembrance policy, peace policy and anti-fascism.

Freihold is a full member of the Committee for Culture and Media in the 19th German Bundestag . In addition, she is represented as a deputy member of the Committee on Education, Research and Technology Assessment , as well as the subcommittee on Civic Engagement.
