Brigitte Keppler

Brigitte Keppler (born March 17, 1919 in Berlin ) is a German actress .

Life

Keppler is the daughter of the actor Ernst Keppler (1883–1942), who was initially engaged at the Prussian State Theater in Berlin, but after Hitler came to power, he moved to the RMVP and became a cultural functionary in the theater department.

She learned her trade at Lilly Ackermann's drama school for young stage talent in Berlin. She was sponsored by the Reich dramaturge Rainer Schlösser . In 1940 she made her stage debut as "Hermione" in a production by Hans Jüngst's Achill among the women at the Kiel Theater . There she received her first engagement until 1942. This was followed by stage positions from 1942 to 1944 at the Deutsches Theater Lilli, from 1945 to 1949 at the German National Theater in Weimar , from 1949 to 1955 at the Deutsches Theater Berlin and the Stadttheater Basel .

She played in the character player class from an early age. Keppler embodied "Natalie" in Heinrich von Kleist's Prince von Homburg in Kiel in 1941, "Klara" in Friedrich Hebbel's Maria Magdalene in Weimar in 1945, the title role in Gerhart Hauptmann's Rose Bernd in Weimar in 1946, and "Hanne Schäl" in Hauptmann's Fuhrmann Henschel 1948 in Weimar, the "Pauline Piperkarcka" in Hauptmanns Ratten 1948 in Weimar, the "Marie" in Shakespeare's Was ihr wollt in 1950/51 at DT Berlin and the witch in Goethe's Faust in 1955 at DT Berlin.

In addition, she appeared occasionally in film productions, for example in Slatan Dudow's drama Stronger than the Night . For DEFA she also worked as a voice actress in various productions in Berlin.
