Brigitte Lange (born November 18, 1945 in Ludwigshafen am Rhein ) is a German politician ( SPD ). She was a member of the Berlin House of Representatives from 2001 to 2016 .

education and profession

After completing a commercial apprenticeship and an au pair stay in Great Britain, Brigitte Lange moved to Berlin in 1968. She completed further training as a restorer and became self-employed . Since 1987 she has worked as a lecturer at the Adult Education Center in Wedding and Pankow in the department of cultural education. After the qualification course "Urban Structure and Social Contexts" at the Technical University of Berlin from 1987 to 1989, followed from 1994-1998 a further education course at the Fern-Universität Hagen with a focus on "Cultural Management / Communal Cultural Work"

She has been working as a freelance cultural manager and restorer since 1994.

Political career

Brigitte Lange has been a member of the SPD since 1972 and a member of the SPD state executive committee in Berlin. After she was a member of the Berlin-Reinickendorf District Assembly from 1996 to 2001, where she was spokesperson for cultural policy, she was a member of the Berlin House of Representatives from 2001 to 2016, where she was the cultural policy spokesperson for the SPD parliamentary group.

In the House of Representatives, Lange was a member of the committee for “European and federal affairs, media, Berlin-Brandenburg” and the committee “cultural affairs” as well as deputy chairwoman of working group III (euro, federal government, media / culture). Brigitte Lange is a member of ver.di , where she is the Deputy Federal Chairwoman of the Fine Arts Section and a member of the Broadcasting Council of the Berlin-Brandenburg Broadcasting Corporation .

Personal

Brigitte Lange is married and has three children.

She is a founding member and deputy chairwoman of the Kulturforum Stadt Berlin der Sozialdemokratie , member of the board of the Kulturforum der Sozialdemokratie Berlin , Lange is a member of the board of the Kulturforum der Sozialdemokratie with the focus on artist promotion and Berlin culture, member of the Kulturpolitische Gesellschaft e. V. as well as a member of various development associations.
