Brigitte Mühlenbruch

Brigitte Mühlenbruch (* 1936 in Bremen ) is a German pharmacist and honorary president of the European Platform of Women Scientists EPWS in Brussels .

Life

Mühlenbruch studied pharmacy at the University of Würzburg from 1957 to 1961 and received his doctorate in pharmaceutical chemistry from the University of Bonn in 1969 . Then she was academic director at the Pharmaceutical Institute of the University of Bonn until 1988. There she worked as the central equal opportunities officer until 2000 and at the same time spokeswoman for the Federal Conference of Women's and Equal Opportunities Officers at universities in Germany for seven years. In 2000, with the support of the Federal Ministry of Research, she founded the Center of Excellence Women and Science (CEWS) at the University of Bonn, which is now part of the Leibniz Association. After her retirement in 2001, she also headed the competence center until 2005. On behalf of and with funds from the European Commission, she founded and built up the European Platform of Women Scientists EPWS in Brussels, which she headed until 2009 as Vice President and until 2017 as President. Since then she has been honorary president. Mühlenbruch is a member of numerous commissions and expert groups, such as B. the European Network of Women in Decision-Making in Politics and the Economy of the European Commission.
