Briobecca Urayasu ( Japanese ブ リ オ ベ ッ カ 浦 安 Buriobekka Urayasu ) is a Japanese football club from Urayasu in Chiba Prefecture . He played in the Japan Football League in 2016 and 2017 .

history

The club was founded in 1989 under the name Urayasu Junior Soccer Club ( 浦 安 ジ ュ ニ ア ・ サ ッ カ ー ク ラ ブ Urayasu Junia Sakkā-bu ) as a pure youth soccer club. In 2000, an adult department was added, which was incorporated into the game operations of the leagues in Chiba Prefecture. From 2005 Urayasu played in the highest prefecture league; there they finished almost always top places, although the last bit to reach the championship was missing just as regularly, making it to the 2011 season lasted until finally the rise in the Kanto - Regional succeeded.

With the rise, the name also changed to Urayasu Soccer Club ( 浦 安 サ ッ カ ー ク ラ ブ Urayasu Sakkā-bu ). In the following season, third place was immediately achieved in Division 2 of the Regionalliga, a year later followed by winning the championship title, the renewed promotion to the Regionalliga Oberhaus. In addition, Urayasu was able to qualify for the Imperial Cup for the first time in the club's history .

The two years that the team spent in Division 1 of the Regionalliga have been the most successful in the club's history. So the championship could be won in both seasons, which was connected with the qualification for the national regional league final round . In 2014 they failed in the preliminary round; after another name change to Briobecca Urayasu succeeded a year later, the second place in the finals and thus reaching the Japan Football League . The club was able to hold on there for two years before relegating back to the regional league at the end of the 2017 season . Briobecca was unlucky that none of the three clubs eligible for promotion to the J3 League this year ( Vanraure Hachinohe , FC Imabari and Nara Club ) achieved the necessary placement in the top four, because this increased relegation from the league a club.

Club name

The name Briobecca is a portmanteau consisting of two parts . The terms Brionac (the name of the magical spear of the Celtic god Lugh ) and Beka-fune ( べ か 船 , a single-seater ship typical of the Urayasu region, which was used to harvest nori algae) were merged.
