British-Swiss parliamentarian ski race

The British-Swiss Parliamentary Ski Race is a ski competition that takes place annually in Davos on the occasion of the Anglo-Swiss Parliamentary Ski Week . The race has been held since 1956.

Parliamentarians and members of government from Switzerland and the United Kingdom are eligible to participate . There will be a parallel slalom and a giant slalom .

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle wrote an article about skiing in Davos in 1899. The text made this place very popular, especially with the English, and consequently attracted many guests from Great Britain. The idea for a skiing competition dates back to 1956, when British Members of Parliament happened to meet Swiss parliamentarians who were there for a committee meeting in the Hotel Flüela in Davos . They spontaneously compete in a ski race. The first organized event took place in 1957, and accommodation has always been in the Hotel Flüela ever since.
