Britta Boerdner
Britta Boerdner (* 1961 in Fulda ) is a German writer .
biography
Britta Boerdner grew up in Gelnhausen and trained as a bookseller after graduating from high school. After several years of work, she began studying American, German and historical ethnology at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main and the University of California, Berkeley, with a focus on literature and cultural studies. With a thesis on Walker Evans' photographic work (“The Thing Is Such A Secret And So Unapproachable”) she graduated with the title Magistra Artium. During her studies she worked as a copywriter and editor in an advertising agency, wrote travel reports, portraits of regions and cities, and worked on short stories and essays.
In 1999 the publication of "Bockenheimer Bouillabaisse", a detective novel, in which she worked as a co-author (Eichborn-Verlag). In 2009, “Der Frankfurter Hauptfriedhof” was published by Societätsverlag , and in 2012 “What remains hidden” was published by Frankfurter Verlagsanstalt. In 2015 she received a grant from the Hessian Literature Council for Emilia-Romagna and the “Inselschreiber Sylt” grant from the Sylt Foundation. The jury statement from the Sylt Foundation said: “Britta Boerdner's work sample from her emerging novel… impresses with atmospheric images and surprising twists and turns. ... She succeeds in bringing larger perspectives together in a small space as easily as precisely. ”For the funding period 2021, she is receiving a working grant from the Künstlerhaus Lukas.
Britta Boerdner lives and works in Frankfurt am Main .
