history
With the Broadwood Stadium, FC Clyde found a home again in 1994. From its founding in 1877 to 1898, the club played its games in Barrowfield Park in Glasgow . Then you went to Glasgow's Shawfield Stadium . Due to financial difficulties, the club sold it to the Greyhound Racing Association in 1935 ; The club stayed as a tenant until 1986. Because of renovation work, FC Clyde had to look for a new venue. Five years were spent in Firhill Stadium by local rival Partick Thistle until 1991. Then they moved to the old Douglas Park of Hamilton Academical until the completion of Broadwood Stadium in Cumbernauld , about 15 to 20 km outside of Glasgow. The Clyde FC team was nicknamed the Gypsy Army because they had to move homeless from one stadium to another.
The stadium was initially equipped with two longitudinal stands and 6,000 seats; the South Stand was added in 1997. A leisure and sports center was built on the open north side and there are several artificial turf training grounds behind the south stand . The stadium's playing area is also equipped with artificial turf. The three tiers offer 8,209 covered seats and the floodlights are attached to the roof edge of the main and opposite stands. The guest fans will find their seats on the Main Stand in the corner of the South Stand . On January 8, 2006, 8,000 spectators came to the game of the 3rd round in the Scottish FA Cup against Celtic Glasgow and set a record attendance.
The final of the Scottish League Challenge Cup was held four times in the stadium (1997, 2001, 2002, 2003) .
