Lauris Reiniks (born July 11, 1979 in Dobele ) is a Latvian singer , composer , actor and showmaster .

Life and music

Lauris Reiniks was born as the son of the singer Artūrs Reiniks  and the music teacher Dace Reinika in Dobele, a town in southwest Latvia . He has a younger sister. He grew up in Tērvete . As a teenager he founded his first band "AURI" with the support of his father, where he performed as a soloist and gained his first stage experience. Reiniks graduated from the University of Music in Jelgava and studied communication sciences at the University of Latvia , but did not finish this course. He trained his acting skills in Los Angeles .

The Reiniks family had their own radio show called Spiets ("The Swarm") and toured Latvia. From 1998 to 2001 Lauris Reiniks hosted the music TV show Nošu Spēles on Latvian television . Through this show he met the composer Raimonds Pauls , from whom he was invited to several music projects. The collaboration lasted about a year. He later wrote songs himself and began his career as a solo singer. The agency "Aktiv Music" offered him a contract with the record company Platforma Records , which started his success.

Together with Mārtiņš Freimanis and Yana Kay, he founded the band FLY in 2003 and competed in the Eurovision Song Contest . Between 2003 and 2016 he released six solo albums in Latvia alone. Lauris Reiniks has won more than 24 national awards.

Because of his millions of views on the YouTube video platform , he is known as the "unofficial king of YouTube of Latvia".
