Mārtiņš Freimanis
Mārtiņš Freimanis (born February 7, 1977 in Liepāja ; † January 27, 2011 in Riga ) was a Latvian musician , actor and author who took part in the Eurovision Song Contest for Latvia several times .
Life
Mārtiņš Freimanis grew up in Aizpute . Since 1994 he has appeared as the singer of the group "Tumsa" and released five albums with them. He was also a songwriter for other artists.
He represented his country twice in the Eurovision Song Contest . As a member of the group FLY , he finished third from last at the Eurovision Song Contest 2003 in his own country with the title Hello from Mars . Two years later he was the composer of the song The War Is Not Over, interpreted by Valters & Kaža , which reached fifth place in the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest . In addition, he took part in the national preliminary round several times as a composer. A title composed by him was also represented in the preliminary round for the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 .
In addition to his musical career, he also appeared as an actor and played the role of Edgar in the television series Neprata cena . In 2004 he published a volume of poetry entitled Zālīte Truša Dvēselei .
Freimanis died of influenza shortly before his 34th birthday in 2011 .
