The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named the plateau in 2001 after David H. Bromwich (* 1948) from the working group for polar meteorology at the Byrd Polar Research Center at Ohio State University , who had carried out studies on the climate in Antarctica for over 20 years from 1978 .
