Brothers of Metal is a Swedish heavy metal band formed in 2012 from Smedjebacken and Falun . Thematically, the octet deals primarily with Nordic mythology .
Band history
Founded in 2012 as a pure fun project to "breathe new life" into the ailing True Metal , Brothers of Metal recorded their debut album in 2015, which was released in 2017 by themselves. A new edition followed in 2018 under AFM Records . Both the chosen band name, as well as appearance and music videos are deliberately self-deprecating and exaggerated clichéd, which aroused both praise and criticism.
In January 2020, the group released their second album Emblas Saga , which, although the band was barely known to date, made them number 9 in the charts in Germany. Critics praised it as a "hardly possible increase", as well as that it was "very possible" that there "won't be anything better in the true metal genre this year". On the one hand, the “bell-clear and yet often extremely powerful” singing of Ylva Eriksson is emphasized, in contrast to the doubled male singing “with parallel, but slightly different melodies”, which provided depth of detail in the singing. Comparable bands like Sabaton , Powerwolf or Gloryhammer appeared “one-dimensional” in comparison.
