The Brough Superior 11-50 was a touring motorcycle by the British manufacturer Brough Superior , which was built from 1933 to 1940. In contrast to the top model Brough Superior SS100, the 11-50 was not designed for high performance, but for robustness. A total of 308 copies of the Brough Superior 11-50 were built and a third of them were sold as police motorcycles, particularly to Canada and Australia .
History and technology
In the later model updates , the Brough Superior SS100 was not designed as a robust touring motorcycle, so George Brough ordered an inexpensive side-steered motor from JAP . The newly developed 60 degree V-engine (85.5 mm bore and 95 mm stroke) with Amal carburetor and magneto ignition was designed for good torque curve, also for sidecar operation. This was the first time that dry sump lubrication was used on a brough engine . The consumption of the tourer was given as 4.3 liters / 100 km. The LTZ engine was built into the existing chassis of the SS80, which, equipped with 27 inch tires, could have a seat height of 66 cm. The Brough Superior 11-50, which was only moderately facelifted in the course of production, received straight-way suspension for the rear wheel in 1938 , while the front wheel was guided with the well-known Castle fork.
