Browningia microsperma is a species of the genus Browningia in the cactus family(Cactaceae). The specific epithet microsperma means 'with small seeds'.

description

Browningia microsperma grows tree-shaped, reaches heights of 4 to 7 meters and forms a trunk of up to 30 centimeters. The non-segmented gray-green shoots are branched. There are 12 to 20 rounded ribs . The 30 or more downward pointing thorns are yellowish or reddish brown and up to 1.2 inches long.

The white flowers reach a length of up to 6 centimeters and the same diameter. The green fruits have a diameter of 5 to 6 centimeters.

Distribution, systematics and endangerment

Browningia microsperma is common in the Pasco region of Peru . It was first described as Cereus microspermus in 1931 by Erich Werdermann and Curt Backeberg . William Taylor Marshall placed them in the genus Browningia in 1946 .

In the Red List of Threatened Species of the IUCN , the species is listed as " Least Concern (LC) ". H. listed as not endangered.
