Bruce Farr , OBE (* 1949 in Auckland ) is a New Zealand designer of regatta and cruising yachts .

Bruce Farr has been involved in sailing and the design and construction of boats from an early age. Following the success of its subscribed 18-foot skiffs he made in 1973 independently . In 1981, together with Russell Bowler , he founded a subsidiary in Annapolis , USA under the name Bruce Farr & Associates , from which today's company Farr Yacht Design emerged .

Bruce Farr is best known through the success of the yachts he designed in the most important offshore regattas from the Sydney-Hobart Regatta to the Volvo Ocean Race to the Vendée Globe and several participations of his yachts as challengers in the America's Cup (see below) . Series yachts like the Bénéteau 25 and the Mumm 30 are also part of his work.

Farr left Farr Yacht Design in 2012 . In 2015 he was hired again by the company as a consultant to further develop the 12-meter class yacht . He lives near Annapolis.
