Bruce Merry

Bruce Merry (* 1944 ) is a South African Italian , English and Neo-Greekist .

Merry was Lecturer in Italian Language and Literature at Witwatersrand University , Johannesburg , later Associate Professor of English at the University of Kuwait and finally Professor of Modern Languages at James Cook University , North Queensland , Australia .

Merry works in the field of Italian studies on Italian poetry, in particular on the Nobel Prize for Literature Eugenio Montale , the Renaissance poet and courtesan Tullia d'Aragona and the representation of women in contemporary Italian literature . In the field of neo- Greek studies , he has distinguished himself through an encyclopedic manual on modern Greek literature .
