A brunch is a meal that consists of components from breakfast and lunch. The suitcase word brunch comes from English and is made up of br eakfast (" breakfast ") and l unch (" lunch "). The Anglicism brunch, originated in English at the end of the nineteenth century, is masculine in German ( the brunch, the brunch [e] s).

Brunch often starts in the morning and is often extended into the early afternoon. Hotels and restaurants sometimes offer brunch on weekends, which is offered as a cold- warm buffet at a flat rate.

The selection at brunch ranges from rolls , bread , croissants with jams , jams , honey , cheese and sausage , eggs and soups to cakes and pies . Basically there is a balanced mix of cold and warm dishes. As a rule, coffee and tea preparations , fresh milk , mineral water and fruit juices are offered as drinks , in the upscale gastronomy mostly also sparkling wine .

Many restaurants now offer brunch, mainly on Sundays. Thus the word “Sunday brunch” has spread in western culture in recent years. With this trend, it can also be observed that not only restaurants offer brunches, but private individuals also organize Sunday brunch for family members, friends, colleagues and acquaintances.
