The drinking youth fountain is a fountain in Darmstadt .

History and description

The “Young Drinking” fountain was designed by the architect Joseph Maria Olbrich . The wall fountain in a prominent location on the southern slope of the Mathildenhöhe was completed in 1901.

The rising clinker wall of the enclosure is located behind a low, semi-circular basin . The lyrical figure of the “young drinking man” - a partially sculptural kneeling nude in the prince's seat in Carrara marble by the sculptor Ludwig Habich - was set into the brick wall .

Monument protection

The fountain is a cultural monument for architectural and city history reasons .
