Brunnerstraße 2, 4, Halberstädter Straße 48, 50, 52, 54, 56 is the name of a listed group of houses in the Magdeburg district of Sudenburg in Saxony-Anhalt .

It is located on the north side of Halberstädter Straße in a corner to the east at the confluence of Brunnerstraße and Halberstädter Straße.

Architecture and history

The four-storey plastered houses were built from 1904 to 1911 according to a design by Gustav Richter , and according to other information in 1910/11 by master bricklayer Otto Lindau and form a closed perimeter block development. The rather plain, restrained with jewelry in the style of neo-classicism and art nouveau ornate facades of five buildings with wide box bay window marked that at risalits remember. Loggias are mainly arranged in the middle of the houses, some with round arches , some with horizontal lintels. The windows of the buildings are arranged according to a uniform rhythm. Three-, four- and six-room apartments were set up in the buildings. In addition to two apartments, there is also a shop on the first floors of the houses. A well-known long-term business was the Post Drugstore . The business, run by Wilhelm Maibaum in the 1930s and 1940s, was damaged in a bombing raid during World War II , but was able to continue. Further business was through a baker, butcher, tobacco dealer, hairdresser and a stationery shop.

Until the mid-1920s, the family of the Jewish merchant Julius Petzon lived in today's house number 48, at that time number 126a, at the Brunnerstrasse entrance . The only child in the family, Senta Petzon , born in 1910 , became known as the writer Nomi Rubel . In her autobiographical novel Schwarz-Braun ist die Hazelnut she reported about her childhood.
