Da Col celebrated his first major success at the Italian Championships in 1936. He won the gold medal in front of Mario Bonomo and Riccardo Rodeghiero . Shortly thereafter, Da Col started at the 1936 Winter Olympics in Garmisch-Partenkirchen . There he reached 37th place on the normal hill. Shortly after the games, Da Col was the first Italian to jump over 100 meters on the Gigante Corno d'Aola trampolino in Ponte di Legno . The world record, however, had just been increased to 101 meters by Josef Bradl . Despite this, he received a gold medal of honor from Benito Mussolini for his performance. In 1939 and 1924 he won gold again at the Italian Championships. In 1943 he had to admit defeat to Giuseppe Armand and Roberto Lacedelli and won bronze. After the Second World War he was able to find his way back to his old form and won his fourth championship title in 1947. At the 1948 Winter Olympics in St. Moritz , he reached 18th place on the normal hill. A year later, at the end of his career, he won again bronze at the Italian championship behind Carlo De Lorenzi and Aldo Trivella .
