Bruno Güterbock
Bruno Gustav Güterbock (born March 5, 1858 in Berlin ; † January 24, 1940 there ) was a German private scholar .
Güterbock, from a wealthy Jewish family who converted to Christianity, his father was the banker Gustav Güterbock (1820-1910), studied linguistics and received his doctorate in 1882 at the University of Königsberg . He lived as a private scholar in Berlin. Here he was particularly committed to the German Orient Society , of which he was secretary for many years. In 1928 he received the Leibniz Medal of the Prussian Academy of Sciences .
In 1907 he married the writer Grethe Auer . The marriage had two sons, the later Hittite scientist Hans Gustav Güterbock (1908–2000) and Bruno, called “Bärle”, Güterbock (1911–1951).
