Bruno Girard

Bruno Girard (* 25. November 1970 in Blois , France ) is a former boxer and both WBA world champion at super middleweight as well as regular WBA champion in the light heavyweight division .

Girard won his first 12 fights, but all only on points. In his 13th fight he suffered his first defeat against the Bulgarian Konstantin Semerdjiev . On June 7, 1999 he became European champion . In December of the same year he faced Byron Mitchell for the world title in super middleweight and reached only one draw, which Mitchell kept the title.

The rematch of the two took place in April of the following year, and again it was about the WBA world championship belt. This time Girard beat Mitchell on points and thus captured the title. In 2001 he fought against Robert Koon with a knockout victory in round 11 of the regular world champion belt of the WBA in the light heavyweight division.
