Byron Mitchell
Byron Mitchell (* 31 October 1973 in Orlando , Florida , USA ) is a former boxer in the super middleweight and two-time WBA world champion.
Career
With a technical knockout victory in round 11 over Frankie Liles , Mitchell became WBA world champion in June 1999. He defended this belt in the same year against the French Bruno Girard with a draw. Because of this tie, a rematch was scheduled, which took place in April of the following year. This time Mitchell had to admit defeat to the French unanimously on points.
On March 3, 2001, he boxed against Manny Siaca again for the WBA world title, which this time was vacant, and conquered him again with a victory by technical knockout in the 12th round.
