Bruno Zimmer (born January 4, 1956 in Idar-Oberstein ) is a German local politician ( SPD ) and was Lord Mayor of Idar-Oberstein from 2007 to 2015 .

Zimmer completed his studies with a degree in administration and worked from 1978 to 2002 in various positions at the Idar-Oberstein city administration. From 2002 to 2005 he was an office manager at the Birkenfeld district administration , and from January 2006 he was an alderman for the city of Idar-Oberstein. On November 5, 2006 he was elected Lord Mayor of Idar-Oberstein with 50.9% of the votes and took office in 2007. In October 2014, Zimmer was not re-elected in a runoff election. Frank Frühauf has been his successor since March 1, 2015 .
