The Brusilia is a residential tower near the Josaphat Park in Schaerbeek , a municipality in the Belgian capital, Brussels . It is one of the tallest buildings in Belgium .
The tower was designed by the architect Jacques Cuisinier in 1967. On November 16, 1967, the construction plans were approved. The groundbreaking ceremony followed on September 17, 1969, but the actual construction work did not begin until 1970 and was completed in 1974. Originally a complex of three towers, each 100 meters high, was planned, which should form a circle together. In the end, only one tower was built. Brusilia has 39 floors, but three of them are underground. It is the tallest building in Schaerbeek and, after the up-site, the second tallest residential building in Brussels. It ranks third among the tallest residential buildings in Belgium, after the up-site in Brussels and the Europe Center in Ostend .
The Brusilia was built on the site of the former Sportpaleis Schaerbeek, where the Zesdaagse van Brussel race was organized until 1965. This building was demolished in early 1967.
