Bryan Hughes (born June 19, 1976 in Liverpool ) is a former English football player and current coach.

Player career

Bryan Hughes started his professional football career in 1994 at Wrexham FC . There he was able to attract attention for the first time and after three years he moved to Birmingham City . For the Blues , he scored 34 times in 247 games and rose to the Premier League with the club in 2001/02 .

After seven years with City, Hughes moved to the capital to join Charlton Athletic . There it held him for three years before he moved to league rivals Hull City in 2007 , with whom he rose to the top English division for the second time in his playing career. In the 2008/09 Premier League season , however, Hughes only made a few appearances and after he had not received an official shirt number before the beginning of the subsequent round , the club loaned him to the second division Derby County for a month in late October 2009 .
