Bryn Amlwg Castle ( Welsh : Castell Bryn Amlwg ) is an abandoned castle in the English county of Shropshire , near the Welsh border. It is between Newtown and Clun .

It was a castle from the 12th or 13th century, enclosed by earthworks . It had towers and a gatehouse . Today only the earthworks remain.

The point where the English county of Shropshire and the Welsh counties of Montgomeryshire and Radnorshire meet is very close to the castle site at the confluence of the Nant Rhydyfedw and Nant Rhuddwr streams . The westernmost point of the border between England and Wales is also in the vicinity.
