Boy wisdom was the name of a small handbook for the groups of the Catholic youth group in Austria. It was published for the first time in 1948 and was mainly aimed at around 9 to 12 year old boys . It was a paperback printed in 5–6 editions with initially about 150, later 180 pages and contained numerous practical tips for nature experiences , field trips, map reading , tree and rock studies , group games for home hours, tent camps and other social activities. It also served as a small songbook and also contained suitable prayers for this age group.

The boys' wisdom was in use until around 1965 and when it occasionally appears at flea markets, it immediately finds buyers because of its memorable value . The last edition was published around 1960 by Josef Petrik in Vienna.
