The Bucher Rim is a cliff in Marie Byrd Land in West Antarctica . The formation protrudes from the southern section of the crater rim of the extinct volcano Mount Takahe .
The United States Geological Survey mapped the cliff on the basis of its own measurements and aerial photographs of the United States Navy from 1959 to 1966. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1975 after the Swiss Peter Bucher of the University of Bern , who was a glaciologist of the United States Antarctic Research Program from 1969 to 1970 worked at Byrd Station .
