Bucky Adams
Charles "Bucky" Adams (born April 25, 1937 in Halifax / Nova Scotia , † July 13, 2012 ) was a Canadian jazz saxophonist and band leader.
Adams came from a family of musicians. As a child he played the trumpet and performed with his father. At the age of eleven he made an appearance on the occasion of a visit by Queen Elizabeth to Canada. He later switched to the saxophone and has led several bands of his own since the 1950s, including the Rockin 'Rebels , the Road Runners , the Ambassadors , Club Unusual , the Generations and the Basin Street Trio . He kicked u. a. with Louis Armstrong , Oscar Peterson , BB King , Count Basie and Lionel Hampton . Since the late 1970s, he made regular appearances on the weekly television show Canadian Express . In 1997, he was nominated for two East Coast Music Awards for his album In a Lovin 'Way .
