George Jessel "Buddy" Curry (* 4. June 1958 in Greenville , North Carolina ) is a former American American football poker players. He played eight seasons with the Atlanta Falcons in the National Football League (NFL) on the position of linebacker .

Early years

Curry went to high school in Danville , Virginia . He later went to the University of North Carolina , where he played college football for the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).

NFL

Curry was selected in the 1980 NFL Draft by the Atlanta Falcons in the second round in 36th place. Immediately after his first season with the Falcons, he was voted Defensive Rookie of the Year , partly because he caught three interceptions that season. After the 1987 season, he ended his professional career.

After the career

Curry has been a coach at USA Football , the national football association, since 2013 .

His son Jessel Curry played football at Auburn University . His other son, David Curry, plays football at the Georgia Institute of Technology .
