from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Budenicus is the name of a Gallic local god who, according to the Interpretatio Romana, is equated with Mars . The South Gaulish tribe of the Bedunicenses is said to be named after him.

Mars Budenicus is named in a single dedicatory inscription from Bezouce ( Collias , Roman province Gallia Narbonensis ; near Uzès , Gard department ):

Marti / Budenic (o) / Gratus / Severi / filius ( CIL XII, 2973 ).
