Abraham (Appie) Bueno de Mesquita (born July 23, 1918 in Amsterdam , † August 19, 2005 in Lelystad ) was a Dutch actor and comedian, who became known in Germany through the Rudi Carrell Show and Amlauf Band .

Life

Abraham Bueno de Mesquita was originally a furrier, but then became a musician and actor. As a Jew, he was imprisoned in the SS assembly camp in Mechelen during World War II . He had already been assigned to the Auschwitz concentration camp when the camp commandant was looking for musicians and selected him because he could play the cello and had excellent mimic skills.

As an artist, he only ever appeared under his surname Bueno de Mesquita. He played guitar in the Malando Orchestra , a well-known Dutch tango orchestra, and in The Skymasters , the dance orchestra of the radio station AVRO . He later founded his own orchestra.

As early as 1952 he appeared as a comedian on Dutch television. He got his own shows there, they were called Buurten bij Bueno (chat with Bueno), Mesquitaria and Twaalf ambachten, dertien Bueno's . In the 1960s there were many shows with the Dutch singer Rita Corita, both for television and for film, with the two playing a comic duo. This included the television series Nou jij weer (You again). He also appeared regularly in various shows.

De Mesquita first appeared on German television in 1968 when Rudi Carrell was producing shows in Germany again after a break and hired him as a comedian for the Rudi Carrell Show . It appeared in all editions up to the end of the series in December 1973. In the successor Am Laufende Band he then no longer appeared regularly. Before that he had already participated in the Dutch edition of the Rudi Carrell Show .

He called his biography the cello with one string, my life . He died of lung cancer and brain cancer at the age of 87 .
